Utility locate operations software

A locate company does not run on a ticket inbox. The work is the message history, the ticket state, the people in the field, and the record you can still open when someone asks what happened.

What the software has to hold

Utility locating starts when a one-call center — 811, Dig Safe, or the state equivalent — sends a ticket. Office staff and locators then live in a stream of provider messages: new tickets, updates, remarks, cancellations, and positive responses. If those messages only live in an email box, the company cannot reliably reconstruct a ticket later.

Locate operations software is the system that keeps that stream attached to the ticket. In Service Arc that means a one-call communications engine, Dig Safe intake, an immutable provider message history, and a ticket projection the office and the field can both read. The message is the evidence. The screen is a view of it.

Damage investigations sit next to the ticket

When a facility is damaged, the question is rarely “which spreadsheet row was this?” It is which ticket, which messages, which photos, and which timeline. Service Arc keeps a damage-investigation lifecycle with an evidence gallery, compliance timelines, PDF reports, and links back to the locate ticket and the asset. That is an operations record, not an automatic finding of fault.

What this is not

Service Arc does not replace the state one-call center, the locator’s judgment in the field, or the company’s own marking standard. It does not file the legal locate. It keeps the company’s side of the work in one event-driven platform, together with work orders, dispatch, customers, and billing.

Every Service Arc plan includes the full platform. Free forever with capacity limits; upgrade for more seats and storage. No credit card at signup. Pricing is by team size, not by unlocking locate features.
